Prime Foods is a family-owned business based in Boonville, Indiana. It dates back to 1936, when Freeman Kramer first opened the company's doors and sold live chickens, eggs, and cream to local Southern Indiana businesses. Building on early successes he attained with the company, Freeman expanded to the grading and packaging of his own private label of eggs.
In 1974, Freeman's son, Glenn Kramer, after years of learning the family business, took over the helm of Prime Foods. During the late 1970's and 1980's, the company's focus turned primarily to egg and egg products. It was during this time that Prime Food's strong relationship with Rose Acre Farms, the second largest egg distributor in the United States developed. In 1993, Prime Foods began carrying a full line of liquid and frozen eggs.
In 2000, Glenn's son, Jay Kramer, came on board and proudly represents the third generation to work in the family business. |
